LangRecall Terms of Use
Effective date: October 30, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Kevin Coffey ("I", "me"), the developer of LangRecall ("the app"). By downloading or using the app, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. Using the app
I give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own learning. The app is currently free.
2. What you may not do
You may not:
- copy, extract, or redistribute the app's word lists, translations, example sentences or other content, except as allowed in section 4
- copy, modify, decompile or reverse-engineer the app, except where the law expressly allows it
- sell, rent or distribute the app or its content, or use them in another product or service
- remove copyright or license notices from the app
3. Ownership
The app, including its code, design, word lists, the selection and grouping of words into levels, translations, definitions and example sentences, belongs to me and is protected by copyright. Using the app does not give you ownership of any of it.
4. Third-party content
Some content comes from others and stays under its own license, which takes precedence over these terms for that content:
- Chinese English definitions are adapted from CC-CEDICT and are available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 license. You may reuse them under that license.
- HSK vocabulary data comes from the complete-hsk-vocabulary project (MIT License).
- Open-source software and fonts used in the app are listed, with their licenses, in the app under Settings → Licences.
5. Beta versions
Test (beta) versions of the app may contain bugs, may lose saved progress, and may change or stop working without notice. Please keep that in mind and send me any feedback you have.
6. Accuracy and no warranty
I work hard to make the content accurate, but the app is a study aid and may contain mistakes in words, translations, pronunciation or grammar. It is not an official exam product and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any testing organisation, including the organisers of the HSK, TORFL (ТРКИ) or DELE exams.
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. I do not guarantee that the app will be error-free or always available, or that it will help you pass any exam.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, I am not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data, lost study progress or exam results, arising from your use of the app. Because the app is free, my total liability for any claim is limited to €50.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, for intentional or grossly negligent conduct, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law. If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your mandatory rights under the laws of the country where you live.
8. Changes and ending
I may update the app or these terms from time to time. If I make significant changes to the terms, I will update the effective date and let you know inside the app. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the new terms.
You may stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it. I may stop offering the app at any time.
9. App stores
If you got the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, that store's own terms also apply. Apple and Google are not responsible for the app or its content and have no obligation to provide support for it. For Apple users, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies, and where it conflicts with these terms, these terms govern to the extent allowed.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Spain. If you are a consumer living in the European Union, you may also rely on the mandatory consumer protection laws of your country and bring a claim in your local courts.
